International Training Center & Fund

The Carpenters International Training Center (ITC) is the largest and most comprehensive training facility of its kind in the world.

This member-owned world-class facility was designed and constructed to develop and improve the skills of our members.

In 2018, the ITC completed phase 6 of construction, which expanded the facility to over 1.2 million square feet.  With this expansion, the ITC now features increased guest accommodations, shops, large-scale conference spaces, classrooms, and state-of-the-art training areas.

Leadership Programs at the ITC

3rd Year Apprenticeship Program: Helping Build Our Industries

During the 3rd Year Apprentice program, seasoned apprentices gain a greater understanding of the Brotherhood and the construction industry, and of the role union members play in the success of both. Participants learn how professionalism, productivity, skill, and attitude contribute to their own success as well as that of their employers.

UBC Journeymen: Building Leadership for a Strong Future

Journeymen develop leadership, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills, and learn to engage with newer members and lead by example, all while promoting positive work environments and productivity on the job.

212 Journeymen: Next Level UBC Leaders

The 212 Journeymen: Next Level UBC Leaders program focuses on Journeymen Leaders who have committed to utilizing the skills learned in UBC Journeymen: Building Leadership for a Strong Future program and embraced the characteristics of a Transformational Leader as active members of the UBC workforce.

Collaborative Leadership: Building Jobsite Leaders

This program focuses on leadership, communication, entrepreneurship, coaching, and collaboration among the parties of a building project, such as the contractor, general contractor, project manager, facility manager, and the owner.

Foreman Training Program: Building a Solid Foundation

This course highlights the importance of leadership and management skills on the job.  Participants are provided with the tools and techniques for success in their positions back home and receive guidance for balancing planning, communication, and production responsibilities during a project.

Delegate Training Program:  Building a Better, Stronger Union

This four-day program reinforces the leadership role that elected council delegates play in their locals, their councils, and in the greater UBC.  Participants hone skills as communicators, advocates, mobilizers, coalition builders, and politically active union citizens.

UBC Leadership:  Building Teams for a Stronger Future

Two versions of this program help to align staff with key principles introduced in the Journeyman, Mentoring, and 3rd Year Apprentice programs, so they are able to help reinforce those principles back home.  Customized for either Council or JATC staff, the program focuses on helping to achieve the Brotherhood’s goal of 70% market share.

The Training Verification Card helps UBC members track their current training. The TVC is available on the UBC Mobile App or as an individual, wallet-sized plastic card.  Both the mobile and print versions of the TVC include a QR code which, when scanned, displays the member’s training, certifications, and qualifications.  The TVC also displays the member’s name, UBC ID, local union, classification (journeyman, apprentice), craft, union membership status, and dues paid through date.  The UBC Mobile App feature provides each member with access to their up-to-date training and certifications report with the click of a button.  Download the UBC Mobile App and check out this new feature.
